I really loved this book. I read it originally at the library but had to buy it too because it was SO good! I rather like war books etc. and so this was a great read, but also I loved the way it kept swapping from past to present and how this little girl , named Tamar, unravelled her grandfather's complicated history. Great book, with a amazing and unexpected twist !

When Tamar’s grandfather dies he leaves her a box containing a series of clues and coded messages. Fifty years earlier, during the Second World War, a man code-named Tamar is sent to join the resistance fighters in Nazi occupied Holland. The book alternates between the two stories as the younger Tamar attempts to unravel the mystery of the identity of the earlier Tamar and what went so wrong in his life. Spies, mysteries, heartache and the horrors of war – this is a detective story with a difference.
