Reviews: Superintelligence (1)
“Extreme but Interesting Philosophy”
(Paperback)
by Mark Seymour
Bostrom is the main philosopher that popularised the idea that we're living in a simulation, and until recently he headed a department at Oxford that was studying how we should engage with the world supposing this is true. He's become quite a controversial thinker because of this extreme worldview, but a lot of the great thinking from this project has made it into this book. If you're interested in AI this should be one of the things you read as it sets you up with the relevant information to further explore the topic. Reading and researching the topic of artificial intelligence is a really tricky thing to undertake, and there are so many books written about AI all the time making it even harder to know which books to read and which ones to skip, Bostrom was relatively early with writing this in 2016, and it serves as a good launching pad for further reading.
