Reviews: Suffolk Haunts (2)
“A charming collection of original Suffolk stories”
(Paperback)
by Avid reader
This anthology, like the previous ones in the series, is a perfect gift for those who love storytelling that is inspired by real places. I love that you can visit the site of every story here and there is a brief introduction for each story which also gives you directions to the place that inspired them. So you could for example, sit in the beautiful old Suffolk pub that inspired the first story in this collection and read the tale of a ghostly landlady... All the stories are different and yet connected by their geographies. I loved them all and recommend this book highly, for those who are interested in new writers and also for those who want to take a little bit of Suffolk home with them - this book is a perfect gift and the set of four would be lovely as a collection together!
“A perfect read for dark, autumn nights”
(Paperback)
by She Who Reads
I thoroughly enjoyed this anthology which includes a variety of eerie tales, all set against the evocative landscapes of Suffolk. There are some real treasures in here, including the haunting, M.R James-inspired "In Heaven and Earth" by Muriel Moore Smith, and the elegant "Wenhaston's Doom" by Lou Mary Carr which achieves so much in so few words. Beautifully designed and illustrated, this really is a super collection.
