The story of a family, plagued by a curse from the days of the witch trials in England and follows their fortunes through to the end of WW1. If I had to compare the style I would say, James Michener. I was gripped from the start and found it a real page-turner. I think there is a possibility for a sequel as I would like to know what happens to the two main characters. If you like a sprawling family saga a la Michener then this is for you.
