“A great read”
(Hardback)
by Anne Mosedale
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this ARC. This book was an absolute pleasure to read. It is the author’s debut novel, and I was really surprised when I found that out, I felt like I was reading a book from an author with several books under her belt. I thought this was such a well written and engaging book I read it in two sittings. I loved the characters in it, and had such empathy for them and enjoyed seeing Beth and Alberts friendship develop. I think the author has wrote of her characters feelings, thoughts and emotions whilst grieving very accurately, realistically and so eloquently. Beth is thrown into an unexpected role well out of her comfort zone and has to adapt fast. This book is about family, family relationships, grieving, love, friendships and hope with a lovely little touch of romance. I have absolutely loved reading this book, it has made me laugh, smile and cry and definitely was an emotional read at times. .
“I loved it”

I laughed and sobbed through this book. It is so sad and joyous in different places. You will recognise the characters as people in your life. I loved it. Family dynamics, teenagers and an octanarian build a layered story.
“Brilliant”

I really loved this book! I completely related to the characters, although the subject matter was rather sad. A definite recommendation from me!
“Absorbing story”
(Hardback)

This was an absorbing story. A tragedy and the family dynamics this engenders. Very emotional story with realistic characters and a compelling storyline. Very positive conclusion.
“Brilliant”

His was a thoughtful read with a raft of emotions running through it. Beth may be in her early thirties but she’s still disorganised and never commits to anything, a tragic accident leaves her with the guardianship of her teenage niece and toddler nephew along with constant judgement from her mum about her attempts to muddle by. There’s a fantastic mix of relationships in here as well as changes in the dynamics of them and other brilliant characters including her anguished niece and lonely elderly neighbour. Beth herself was a brilliantly written character who did her best despite always feeling lacking and totally out of her depth, it was good to see how she changed as the story progressed although she was still herself at the core, 9/10
