This book is fantastic I couldn’t put it down. It gives such a wonderful look into the lives of a working-class publican family in Newport Wales, during the 1950’s. I absolutely loved following David Rhys and his journey as a teenager, dealing with the up’s and downs of adolescence, navigating bullies, and making friendships. Thomas & Pat, Rhys's mother, and Father were great characters and took pride in working in the corporation club. The end brought tears to my eyes. I felt for the family facing such sad news during Christmas. This book is a must-read and will captivate you.
