Reviews: Starchaser (1)
“Love love love”
(Paperback)
by Megan Crockford
Thank you to the author and publisher for an early copy! I literally screamed when I was accepted for this. RM Gray has done it again. She has created literary *art*. I cannot tell you guys how excited I was to hear about this being released because Nightweaver left us on a big cliffhanger. Firstly let’s discuss the characters. One of my favourite things about Aster is that her emotions feel very realistic. She is surrounded by lies and secrets and her reactions to this are very relatable. She isn’t one of those FMC’s who just forgive everyone and don’t seem to react to any events. She is very much a ‘do-er’ and I feel like I can relate to that because I too am an absolute menace. I also like the air of mystery that most of the characters have; there are a lot of unanswered questions and as a reader it makes us feel very wary of the characters. I love Titus but also is he lying to us? Is he not telling us important information? And why have we been warned against trusting him (and Will)? I just really enjoy unreliable characters because it keeps me on my toes and it really makes us wonder who we can trust. In an attempt to keep this review spoiler free, I won’t address the plot twists, but when I tell you I was literally YELLING at my partner I’m not joking at all. The reader is led one way but then we find out some more information which leaves us to have literal ‘???’ reactions. I enjoy a book which can make me feel really strongly and this book kept me completely hooked throughout. I appreciated the little hints back to Nightweaver because I can’t remember the whole of the first book but I never felt lost at any point. There’s a good balance of plot / character development and it’s not heavily one way or the other. This makes the book really easy to read and I was completely attached to my Kindle until I finished it. This book is packed with adventure and heartbreak, and it evokes many different emotions. I wish I could climb into this story and live there!!!! Rating: 5/5 stars duh (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)
