I heard about this book after the author visited my daughter's school (apparently he had a real hedgehog!). She pestered me for a copy so we went and got a signed copy from him when he was at Waterstones St Albans. Speaking as a bloke and a dad, and having seen my daughter willingly read, I must admit that this book is really great fun. It's very different to what she normally reads, but cleverly written with lots of short, pacey chapters. I had a flick through and found some funny references to sci-fi and action films that my daughter probably wouldn't get. It also featured loads of those QR code thingys which link to the book equivalent of bonus content, which I thought was quite original and good for boy readers. I've just ordered one for my nephew as he's into robots and call of duty, and my daughter said loads of the boys from her school had also read the book. So this comes with dad's seal of approval.
