Reviews: Spawn: Resurrection Volume 1 (3)
“Re-issue of the first Spawn comics - very good, especially if you don't have the originals”
(Paperback)
I already have the first 6 issues of spawn so this gave me an excuse to revisit them in a different guise. There's no question that the series was original, beautifully constructed and illustrated. This comic collection only goes to reinforce this opinion. Well worth a look if you're not familiar with Spawn.
“Very good comic collection, mainly reprints but still enjoyable.”
(Paperback)
This collection of Spawn comics is a delight in that the artwork is excellent, even if there is often a lot to read (too much?). I'd forgotten a lot of the story, having read the original issues a while ago but it was nice to revisit the plot and artwork. Recommended to lovers of detailed and exciting artwork. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
“Sequel to Spawn’s “death””
(Paperback)
Not having read any Spawn for a long time, this was an interesting return to a much-loved series. It seems to start straight after Spawn’s crucifixion and involves his quest for revenge for the death of loved ones (trying not to give too much away!). God and his envoy, Mike, lead Al to his next destination and quest. Belial is after Al and will try to get to him any way that he can. Archangel Gabriel also appears.
It’s well-written and engaging and ends on a bit of a cliffhanger so there’s more to come. The artwork is worth a look and I look forward to reading more in the future.
