Reviews: Space (2)
“Amazing!!!”
(Hardback)
This is the first book about space I’ve read, as I’ve always felt intimidated if the authors use scientific words etc. Tim’s book, was a delight to read, and easy to understand. He will explain terms but also uses everyday examples so you can easily imagine. The book is the history of space flight, not just NASA, but also the Russians and the space race between the two. It features all the successes and sadly, failures like the challenger disaster. Tim also adds his own insight at times too. His description of “lift off” and how it felt, made me feel like I was sitting beside him. The last chapter of the book looks forward to the future, with hopefully the Artemis III going to the moon and hopefully beyond. I recommend this book, to all young and old who love space, and those who are newbies like me. Thank you Tim x
“Fascinating insight into humankind’s race to space”
(Hardback)
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, Tim Peake writes fluently and with many humerous moments about the men and women, including himself who have ventured into the realms of space. I was to young to remember the early history of space flight in the early sixties but vividly remember my mother talking about Yuri Gargarin, until I read this book I had no idea what Gargarin looked like but in among the many fascinating photographs in this book there is one of a young smiling man. I am old enough to remember watching the space shuttle touch down so it was interesting to read the stories behind the various crew members. This book is fascinating, interesting and well written, I am particularly pleased to see Tim Peake celebrate the lives and stories of the women who have gone bravely where others fear to tread, their stories perhaps not as well known as some of their male counterparts.
