How D H Lawrence portrays a powerful piece of writing. It is trying to base his own highs and lows in his childhood and he puts a lot of feeling into the writing like Lady Chatterley’s lover ! I will say do you need to read this first before the rainbow and woman in love because they do follow on in their own special way.

I have read this many times over the years, the first as a teen. My understanding of the motivation of the characters growing as I matured. It is a book that repays repeated readings and I think the best written by Lawrence. I am not too keen on the cover of this latest version.
