If you already own 'Softies' by Therese Laskey, you probably don't need to buy this kit, as the projects within are reproduced from the original book (but on 15 handy, individual project cards). However, if you love Laskey's quirkily cute style and want to treat a crafty friend, this kit would make a wonderful gift, including felt and thread to get started with one of the cool creatures straight away. I don't like Laskey's 'Softies' quite as much as I love Linda Kopp's 'Plush-o-Rama' (also available in kit form) but I do love the compactness of 'The Softies Kit', and the pared-down-to-essentials choice of contents. I wouldn't buy it for myself, but I would definitely buy it for a friend.
