Quick (for an adult) and charming, with a real bit of scare to it. A great autumnal horror that's full of heart and friendship, I will definitely be recommending this to spooky people of all ages.

I loved this spooky middle grade book. Ollie is a great character. I also loved Coco and Brian. The story was spooky and unique. I was pulled in immediately. I highly recommend.

Children of the Corn + Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark Ollie lost her Mom a year ago. She’s stopped the after school activities that she used to love. Most of all, she’s tired of the sympathy in faces and voices. One day she catches a woman trying to throw away a book. She rescues it and can’t stop reading. When her class goes on a field trip to a farm, she comes face-to-face with the woman again—what’s the connection?? I have been wanting to read this book for a very long time! It was SOO good, y’all! While I loved the character building and relationships, Katherine’s imagery and storytelling were my favorite parts! I don’t get scared by horror, but I would put this book up against YA and adult for overall creepiness! I NEVER had a problem with scarecrows until this year (between this, Land of Roar, and The Haunting of Aveline Jones)!! Also, I’m someone who usually guesses the bad guy and/or plot twist at least 80 % of the time, and I didn’t see this plot twist coming! I ordered Dead Voices and The Bear ‘ The Nightingale this month (still waiting on the latter), and can’t wait to get to them!! Buy this for yourself or anyone who enjoys a good creepy tale. If you’re twisted, get it for someone who just moved to an area with a lot of farmland!
