If you haven't read 'Pantomime' first then don't read another word of this and go buy that instead (trust me, it's excellent). 'Shadowplay' picks up from the moment 'Pantomime' leaves off and honestly, if you haven't read that first you'll probably have little to no idea what is going on. The writing style is simply gorgeous and it's an absorbing, engaging plot that has left me desperate to read the next part (although I may have to wait a while for that). The characters are fresh and unique, with more being learnt about Micah and even about Drystan. The new characters are perfect additions that really help to build on the story. It's an addictive read that's difficult to put down. I've left out so much of what makes this book great, but it's something you really must read and discover yourself. I can't recommend it enough!
