Reviews: Shadowplay (7)
“A great example of literary historical fiction.”
(Paperback)
Very good book this, though a slow start had me wanting to put it down early. Very glad I persisted though, once it warms up the writing is brilliant, the characters superbly drawn and richly textured and their story is just so damn fascinating that it had me constantly reaching for Wikipedia to find out how much of it really was true.
I enjoyed this immensely, a great example of literary historical fiction.
“A Theatre, a Writer, and a Ghost.”
(Hardback)
A very interesting, albeit fictional, look into some of the most interesting years in Bram Stoker's life. The characters are fascinating, especially in their relationships with each other, and it is interesting to get a behind the scenes look into the Lyceum Theatre in London in the time of Jack the Ripper.
