I’ll start by saying that if you aren’t a fan of swearing, then give this book a miss. I have no such qualms so I really enjoyed the book. At times the main character was a little annoying with the way she treated people, but overall it was a brilliant read. I thought the plot was believable and I liked the journey she was on. What I did sometimes find confusing, was working out the timeline as the book jumps into the past and then back to the present. I mostly managed and it didn’t take anything away from my overall enjoyment. I definitely recommend this book and I’ll be looking out for more books by Lucy. Thank you #netgalley

What a fun book! I needed something a bit light hearted after some heavy reads and this really filled a need. It has quite a classic rom-com formula with a few twists. It's very funnily written. I particularly liked the flashback to school. It really took me back made me cringe so hard. Its quite high energy and fast paced. Thr main character isn't the most likeable and is sometimes verging on woe is me. She also makes some really terrible choices. But she acknowledges her flaws and almost embraces them. It also adds to the comedy of the story. A really funny, enjoyable read.

I must admit, this book is brilliantly aimed at those girls in there mid-twenties who have most likely been through the Seven Exes, the book felt so realistic I started to think the book was based on me & my friends, it’s funny, sad, lovely and all round humble read. It can get a little tedious towards the middle I felt the book became repetitive but once you read the whole book, your perspective on everything changes!

I really enjoyed this read. How many times in our youth have we read a girly mag and taken what's written there as gospel? I know I have. Going with Esther through her past relationships trying to find the one that might have gotten away was really fun and opened my eyes to my own previous relationships and how the ick factor is very very real. It was as cringe as reading my youthful Facebook posts. ICK.

The story switches between past and present with looks back at each of the seven exes and 3 interactions from the past that explains their relationship from how it started to how it ended! I mean it’s not life-changing literature that makes you examine your life (which isn’t a bad thing!); it’s an easy and enjoyable enough read. The writing is okay but there are some parts that felt forced like the discussions on feminism and the patriarchy, it was randomly placed and made no sense. Esther’s friends feel more like background characters there to prop up Esther instead of being fully formed, complex characters themselves. We get zero descriptions of any characters so I couldn’t picture anybody, I usually prefer at least some descriptions. Esther is kind of immature and selfish (she’s like Carrie from Sex and the City, and I mean that in a derogatory way
