“A Powerful and Authentic Journey”
(Paperback)
Kennedy Ryan has done it again. Score is another stunning novel about love, growth, healing, and understanding. She has an incredible ability to write stories that are emotionally rich while never shying away from difficult conversations, and this book is no exception.
One of the aspects that resonated with me the most was the representation of bipolar disorder. As someone who also lives with bipolar, I found it to be one of the most authentic and compassionate portrayals I’ve read. The highs, the lows, the internal struggles, and the impact it has on relationships were handled with such care and honesty. It never felt like a plot device; it was woven thoughtfully throughout the storyline, and I truly appreciated how well it was written and executed.
Another reason I keep coming back to Kennedy Ryan’s books is the women she creates. They’re courageous, resilient, beautifully flawed, and unapologetically themselves. They inspire you while still feeling completely real, and I love watching them fight for the lives and love they deserve.
And then there’s Monk. He’s officially joined the ever-growing list of fictional men who have set the bar impossibly high. At this point, Kennedy Ryan is personally responsible for my unrealistic expectations because Monk is just another man I wish was real. Once again, this book proves that men written by women are simply better, and I will happily stand by that claim.
This story made me feel deeply, reflect often, and left me thinking about it long after I turned the final page. Kennedy Ryan continues to prove why she’s one of my favourite authors, delivering stories with heart, depth, and unforgettable characters.
