Saving Faith is an excellent standalone thriller by David Baldacci where the CIA are the bad guys and was originally published in 1999. This really is a page turner of a thriller and keeps the reader engaged throughout. Faith Lockhart is being driven to an FBI safe house in the middle of nowhere as she is considering giving evidence against her mentor Dan Buchanon. The problem was that Buchanon as the most powerful lobbyist in Washington DC knows where all the bodies are buried. Just as they are about to enter the safe house her FBI escort spots something is wrong and before he can react, he is shot and killed and falls on top of Faith. Her knight in shining armour Lee Adams realise what he was walking in to, lest of all the battle against the most powerful man in the capital. When Robert Thornhill hears that his best laid plans have come unstuck, he is an angry man and as the associate deputy director of the CIA he has the means to find who messed with his plans. He certainly does not want the FBI messing within his kingdom. While saving Faith becomes the cause of a lot of problems for Adams as he tries to keep her alive while she is being hunted as a fugitive by the FBI and CIA. All Adams had done was take a simple job and had not expected to be at the centre of a battle of wills between the two behemoth agencies. Some how he has to keep Faith alive even when she is doing her best to get killed. Another excellent thriller from David Baldacci.
