Extremely readable and completely fascinating, Macintyre has created a book that reads more like a thriller than the dry history books we are used to.

This book was so well written, I found myself forgetting it was a true narrative. It had the excitement of a great fiction thriller novel and I had to keep reminding myself that the stories were far from fiction. A great book that I just couldn't put down.

A good book, well written. There is none of the sensationalism that plagues other books about the Regiment. These were real people doing extraordinary things.

A most illuminating and highly readable book which uses invaluable Special Air Service Regimental Archive material to produce an accurate and very readable account of 2nd World war Special Forces Operations.

Good book and given the material he had access to, probably as close as you can get to the truth.
