Reviews: Ruby’s Worry (8)
“Such a sweet story”
(Paperback)
by Adriel Comer
In my 4 year old daughter's words: 'She had a worry, then she met someone else who had a worry and they talked about their worries and they went away.' Ruby tries to ignore her worry, but because of this it gets bigger and bigger. But one day she meets someone else who has a worry and decides to talk to him about hers and slowly it gets a bit better.
“Beautifully illustrated picture book for young children”
(Paperback)
by Michelle at Altrincham
A perfect story to share with young children who might have worries but don't know how to articulate them, particularly those who might have anxieties about starting a new school or nursery. Ruby's Worry is a beautifully illustrated picture book and is highly recommended.
“Fantastic for feelings”
(Paperback)
by Joanna Westmoreland
This book has been incredibly helpful. I've read it to my children, and I know it's used at their school too. It puts in the words a pictures how worries can feel and how they grow when they aren't shared. Wonderful story, thank you Tom Percival.
“Loved this!”
(Paperback)
by Helen at Scarborough
.Ruby is a happy little girl, until one day, a Worry shows up. Ruby doesn't tell anyone, and begins to worry about the Worry, until the Worry is HUGE! Luckily, Ruby learns that the very best thing you can do with a Worry is to talk about it, and after that Worries aren't as worrisome anymore. I absolutely loved this, and so did my three year old daughter (it's been read and reread every day for a week!) The illustrations are beautiful, and the story and message is told in a simple enough way that even very little people can understand it. I think this is a must have, and I will be recommending it to everyone! I received a free copy of this in exchange for an honest review.
“Worries be gone!”
(Paperback)
by Caroline Finch-Stanford
I have been so looking forward to this book - we loved "Perfectly Norman" which was, indeed, perfect for us, and this next picture book from Tom Percival is just as lovely! There are not many books around for this age group on worries, so this is a very welcome addition. Beautiful use of colour and a contemporary feel to it make this a great read for any child but additionally very useful to use with children who may be showing signs of anxiety. I would happily use this with children in Infants or lower Juniors (child dependant of course) and can't wait to share it with my son (aged 9 but we still love to share picture books together). Can't wait to see what Tom's next book is about!
