“A Magical Adventure”
(Paperback)
by Jane Sharp at Watford
Rose has grown up in an orphanage where everything is so normal it is positively dull. She has always had a talent for story telling, but is very surprised when one of her stories is vividly conjured from her imagination onto a nearby shiny surface. There is no time to reflect on what this might mean, the next day she is chosen to work as a maid in a big house. Rose is excited about this new opportunity, especially when she finds out that the house belongs to an alchemist. Perhaps being in this magical house will help her make sense of her own magic. Before long a more pressing mystery is troubling Rose. Young children are going missing, and when Rose’s best friend from the orphanage also disappears Rose knows she has to do something. With the help of her new friends in the house she sets out to find and rescue those who have vanished. This is a magical story and Rose is both sweet and brave. The house is full of the most interesting characters, including a very cat. This is the first exciting adventure in the series, and I am looking forward to reading the next one.
