Reviews: Robert Capa (1)
“A masterpiece”
(Paperback)
The images of Robert Capa have been part of the wallpaper of my life as I am sure they have been for so many of us without even being aware of it.
A few years ago, while visiting Genoa, I was lucky enough to see an exhibition of his work covering the invasion of Sicily. The time of year of my visit matched when most of the pictures were taken so I saw them in the "right light" so to speak. I have been a true fan ever since.
This is a truly excellent book. Not a light, bed time read or a coffee-table book unless it is a substantial coffee-table, but a great book. Any text is brief and factual which leaves the pictures to speak for themselves. It also covers the full range of his career and made me realise he was so much more than a war photgrapher. A true artist.
