This is without doubt, the most astheticly sensational cookery book I have bought in years. The recipes are traditional and completely delicious, the photography is old fashioned yet outstanding and the sense of gastronomique delight it evokes throughout makes every single page you read an experience you could only find in a candle lit restaurant in the middle of France. Without a doubt, this is the most overwhelmingly French cookery cook in the entire French cookery section.

This book left me so homesick for France, it was difficult to put down. At the first chance, I was in the kitchen!This has got to be one of the most joyfully playfull cookbooks I've used in years.Reynaud's love of food comes over from the very first recipes. The recipes are imaginative, varied, well laid out, tested and practical and easy to follow. The range of regional French cooking is amazing, and Reynaud's sense of fun and enjoyment of food is on every page.If you are in a mood to be precious about food and cooking, this isn;t the book for you. If you are in a mood to eat well, enjoy, relax and learn little about some of the less well known parts of France's vast gastronomy, then this is a must.

Firstly the quality of the book is excellant and once you open it there is so much more than recipes. Pages of useful information and unusual but interesting facts, diagrams and wonderful pictures on food, drink, people & places! I bought it as a present but want to keep it for myself - a book to delight and treasure.
