Refuge is gorgeous. It's a retelling of the nativity, from the point of the donkey, with a slightly new emphasis on being kind to strangers and the homeless. A new perspective on a familiar story.

This is a very relevant 'retelling' of the Nativity story, taking the reader on from where their usual experience of the story ends and following Mary, Joseph and Jesus on their flight into Egypt to find a safe place to live. It's a beautifully illustrated book, simple, moving and without being obviously political, can also be read as a simple way to explain what's going on now in the world. It's a beautiful gift, and all for an excellent cause too.

Beautifully presented and a lovely idea to raise money for a very worthy cause in the present political climate , but which age group is it aimed at? The illustrations are first class throughout and, of course, the story is timeless. However, the text does not match. Children aged less than 6 would struggle with the way the text is written, and older children might be put off by the fact that it is really a picture book,
