This book is the top, it's the Queen of Sheba, it's the top! From first page to last it gripped me. A fantastic and lengthy introduction from Professor Tony Tanner. As he makes clear, the author actually wrote a much longer manuscript and exercised everything that was not needed from the book. This makes Gatsby a much more mysterious figure, and much the better for it. All the other characters in the book come across as fully rounded people with all the flaws and anguish of real people. It's the top!

There is something delicious about The Great Gatsby. It wraps you in the decadent but wholly false feel of the roaring twenties coating everything with the lyrical beauty Fitzgerald is famous for. I remember the first time I picked up the book I was dubious, my gullible uneducated self knew nothing about the twenties and the story itself didn't seem particularly interesting... I've never been more wrong. This book is without a doubt the best, most beautiful book I've ever read and Fitzgerald now reigns over my bookshelves.

I bought this book as I quickly needed a copy of the great Gatsby for my English literature class. for the price you would expect it to be really bad quality however it is great. although there is a few scuffs and scratches on the cover it is still in near perfect condition and really easy pages to write your notes on.

Absolutely fantastic, one of my favourite books. LOVE IT!

Love this book! I was first introduced to it when I studied it for higher english and what a joy it was! I love F. Scott Fitzgerald's writing style as well as the characters, especially Gatsby himself. The story is also surprisingly compelling as Gatsby is a man of many secrets.
