Emma Perry is a wonderful teacher and it shows in her writing here. Puddling is written with the fun, excitement and suave only a teacher could do to make the act of playing in puddles just so much FUN! Children will LOVE the fast-paced, drop-like narrative that keeps on raining down on the reader, together with the subtle yet highly masterful illustrations of Claire Alexander. A must-buy!

Puddling by Emma Perry and Claire Alexander makes you want to do a rain dance so that you can put on your wellies and go splish-splashing immediately! This book uses words with skilful economy to drill down into the essence of what it’s like to be little and relishing the splishy-splashy fun of a rainy day. Both text and illustrations catch the joy and exuberance of puddling children perfectly, and little ones will especially love joining in with the sound effects. I can see this book being read numerous times!

What a wonderful book! Emma and Claire perfectly capture through their words and pictures the pure joy children so often find in playing in puddles. Told with a sparse text, leaving lots of room for the illustrations to show the rainy day unfold, the reader cannot help but smile warmly at the excitement and fun the children have when they get the chance to jump, dance and play in the puddles. This is a delightful picture book which would appeal broadly to young children and make them want to get out in the rain at the first chance they can. Fabulous!

This is such a happy, joyful book that can't help but make you smile. The rhyme is simple but says so much, covering all the excitement of getting outside and jumping in puddles - and then the comforting snuggle of warming up again afterwards. The art is just gorgeous, with the joy leaping off the page. A perfect book.

This story was adorable. It perfectly captures how much children love puddles! And the pictures are so lovely. There’s repetition, actions, sounds and lots of join in moments. A really cute book for preschoolers everywhere.
