I think it's pretty obvious from the blurb that this is one of Peter James's early horror books rather than his crime thrillers. If you don't like the horror genre, don't read it because this has quite a lot of bloody gore, and opens with a particularly grim and violent scene. I found the book gripping, horrific and really tense - I couldn't put it down.
