The first 150 pages give great insights into the life of Ray Dalio, specifically around to emergence of Bridgewater Associates and its' culture. The 'Principles' section of the book, split between Work and Life Principles is a great read and highly relatable to how you can apply them to your work (Although it can be kept as a great reference book to read back through) Highly recommend!

As I recently received Ray's latest book, The Changing World Order, I decided to revisit the book that first introduced me to him, “Principles”, and I’m glad I did. This book is for anybody who may have leadership/management experience but is looking to take things to the very top of their respected organisations. The book helped me understand the shortcomings in organisations, the lack of accountability that employees often find their senior leaders take and ways to avoid those shortcomings. The book's core message is about developing core principles and values that, no matter what, you don’t break, and that goes both ways, as a manager and an employee. It talks you through how to develop leadership strategies that will bring the best out of your team but in an environment based on honesty, accountability and reflection. That might sound great, but in practice, they are traits that often don’t materialise or sit comfortably in the working world. I’ve taken a copious amount of notes from this book, and I know I will always refer back to it as my career progress. If you’re in a leadership position or have an aspiration to be, I wholeheartedly recommend this book.
