I was such a huge fan of the book PS I Love You (not so much the film with the dodgy accents) but it was such a heartbreaking story of how Holly Kennedy dealt with the death of her husband Gerry. This story is set seven years after her husbands death and six years after his last letter. Holly is approached by a club called the PS I Love You Club who were inspired by her late husband Gerry’s letters. Holly had spent the last 7 years moving on from her grief but when the group approach her she feels herself being pulled back into how she felt back when Gerry died as she tries to help the club leave behind meaningful pieces of themselves for their families once they are gone. It is such an emotional read and anyone who loved PS I Love You will absolutely love this book too, it is definitely a must read and Ceceila Ahern once again stuns me with her incredibly beautiful work.

Reverberates with sentiment and eloquently flows from the first amazing novel into hollys transitional metamorphosis from soul crushing grief to profoundly optimistic and valiant efforts to bring purpose back to her life and others. The continence of her charity work that brings her sister into convincing her to do a podcast and publicity speech, brings some encouraging and hopeful words and phrases that are tender and inspiring to the characters and to the reader. Angela, who regularly donates items that are valuable to the shop, displays some uncharacteristic physical displays of emotion towards holly. Holly feels shame and uncomfortable about Angela’s persistence in getting holly to write a book. This takes a palpable turn when holly calls to confront Angela and demand she stop, only to find that Angela has died from cancer. This book is intimate and sensitive and full of tenderness. A cultivating success for a sequel.

From her husband , Gerry, recently deceased, in the first novel Holly has been receiving cards, presents and letters from him after his death, delivered in an agreement with her mother. A year after his passing the letters have stopped , it is time for Holly to get on with her own life. But there is a mystery ahead. A group has been formed called The P S I love You Club - and they want Holly involved. A lot of people who have experienced the same thing as Holly want to leaver letters etc to their loved ones before they die. But Holly is unsure. She has a new life, a new man called Gabriel and she now works in a second hand shop named magpie and owned by her sister. But she agrees to be on a podcast about grief to try to help other people. Her stories are retold by drifting back into the first novel but you don't need to have read this to enjoy the second book. This is a brilliant, fun book that will have you reaching for the tissues in parts and splitting your sides laughing in others - fabulous book

I love this sequel and the author tried to keep the same style of the first book. It can be emotional in some parts and it is interesting the idea of a club even though it can be intense and play with your feelings. And the author writes about it, the ups and down of being involved with them. Some of the characters are no longer in the book, some are new and some are old, as in life. We follow Holly's life after a few years and she is involved in a new relationship and after a podcast, a club is created. Holly helps this group and we follow her steps throughout this process. The idea of the club is innovative and interesting. The story is well written and hold my attention from start to end. It is easy to read and a lovely history about grief and that the life must continue. If you liked the first book, you likely enjoy this one too. Highly recommended this reading.

I absolutely adore Cecelia Ahern. I’m not a big reader of romance novels but Ahern’s writing always gets to me.
“P.S. I Love You” has always meant a lot to me and I initially wasn’t sure it needed a sequel but I was happy to trust Ahern and put my pre-order in straight away. As soon as I started to read it I knew I’d been wrong, the sequel was absolutely necessary and it was so good to be back with Holly and Gerry.
 Ahern’s writing flows beautifully and really draws the reader in. Her characterisation is generally on point, although it wasn’t all that creative to have Holly’s new man’s name also begin with a G. I love the whole idea of the P.S. I Love You Club and found myself wondering what I would leave behind for my family and friends if I were diagnosed with a terminal condition.
Obviously the subject matter isn’t the cheeriest but Ahern manages a great balance of fun times along with the sadness.
On the subject of sadness, I’m not gonna lie, I had to stop reading at lunch one day because the section I was up to was just too sad and I couldn’t carry on in public at work! There are some absolutely heartbreaking moments so definitely make sure you’ve got the tissues on hand.
“Postscript” really is the perfect sequel that I didn’t even know I was missing! Yes, there are some bits that are a bit predictable but I think that’s partly just a function of the genre. If you loved “P.S. I Love You” then you will love this. Just make sure it’s the book you loved and not the film because otherwise you will be very confused!
