A fascinating book I've never forgotten.

One of the best books I've ever read. It really captures your imagination. I love how Celia Rees puts women at the centre of all her historical novels. I have several of her books and Pirates! was the first one I read and it's still my favourite. I really hope she writes a sequel. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves historical novels about strong women. This is no kids book! Read it, you'll love it. I just love a book you can't put down.

my favourite book of all time. Ive read it about 4 times and would willingly read it again. In my opinion this is Celia Rees finest work and it is a truly amazin book to read. I would recomend it to anyone who, like me, loves to read about the past. Celia Rees brings the past back to life in this amazing story about a girl fighting for freedom away her family on a plantation and finding adventure and love.
