Reviews: Philosophy for A2: Unit 4 (1)
“FFS again”
(Paperback)
*This is only for Descartes*
I really am running out of things to say about Philosophy books in general. It's unlike other subjects in every way. The whole point of a textbook is to teach you from scratch. A textbook should teach you everything you need to know from the get go. Lacewing does not do this, it's too complicated, even for an A2 student.
I remember being excited about getting brand spanking new, shiny books in January only to be disappointed with the content. Lacewing writes in a complicated manner, while he is a very very clever man, his style of writing is too clever for everyone I know. He also does not give sufficient detail; no way near enough. Absolutely no way near enough.
The reason this gets 2 stars rather than 1 is because some small sections were pretty good - enough for me to give an extra star, but not enough to raise it to 3.
