More than a perfume guide, I think 'Perfume' is a must-read for perfume aficionados, but also utterly enjoyable for anyone even vaguely interested in the subject. It's informative, warm, witty and eloquent, which is what I expected having been a follower of Neil Chapman's perfume blog for a few years. I love perfume, I used to be pretty obsessed with collecting, testing and learning all about it, nowadays I enjoy it more simply, but I know most of the 100's of perfume blogs out there and Neil's ('Black Narcissus') was and is the most entertaining. His relationship with perfume is sensual, emotional and often amusing - there's a real flow and authenticity to his writing style. The intros in the book are excellent, but it's the reviews that are such a pleasure to read - poetic and entertaining. A covetable object in itself too with its unashamedly glamorous gold edging!
