Reviews: Odd Hours (15)
“CLEVER AND HIGHLY ENJOYABLE”
(Hardback)
Once I started to read Odd Hours I just didn't want to put it down. Throughout the book you feel and live with Gosia and can't wait to know what's going to happen to her next. Wonderfully well written, the book tackles serious issues in a way that makes you both think and laugh.
Ania Bas' talent as a writer definitely holds many promises for the future.
“Page turner”
(Paperback)
Odd Hours by Ania Bas is a beautiful commentary on what it is like to get through your twenties in a world where being yourself simply isn’t enough. A human condition with which we can all sympathise to lesser or greater extent.
We follow Gosia, the protagonist, as she journeys through ups and downs of finding peace with herself through series of friendships, family dynamics and romantic interests.
The novel is intelligently written and, with each turned page, we get to know and understand Gosia a little bit more. And perhaps relate to a situation or two..
It’s a page turner filled with humour, sarcasm and parody.
“Wonderfully entertaining read”
(Hardback)
This is exactly the type of book that i love, easy to read, made me laugh a lot whilst also really invested in the story of the main character. It had lots of little surprises throughout as you get to know Gosia, which means that you can't avoid feeling for her and wanting her to be happy by the end. The short chapters with descriptions at the start are really helpful and kept me on track throughout, made me feel like i was in there with the characters experiencing the surroundings that they were. Really looking forward to reading more from this author.
“Fast paced and gripping”
(Hardback)
I couldn’t put this down! A tale of transformation with plenty of dark humour and wry observation along the way. Gosia’s struggles had me gripped. And everyone needs a Steve in their life! I also loved the way that Ania Bas created a unique sense of voice and I can't wait to see what this talented writer does next.
“A new female voice that’s original, on point & very funny!”
(Hardback)

Living in a rubbish flat-share and working a dull job – she’s looking for a spark of romance... little does she know the twists and turns that will be in store for her in ‘Odd Hours - as she meets a cast of memorable characters, expands her horizons and discovers new perspectives on family and friendship.
