“Well-paced and easy to read”
(Paperback)
New York detective Michael Bennett has a complicated home life. He’s bringing up 10 adopted children with his second wife, and his grandfather – an Irish catholic priest – also lives with them. The story starts with a school friend of Bennett’s oldest daughter going missing and when a body is found in the Hudson River, Bennett is called to investigate. Although the victim isn’t his daughter’s friend, his partner points out that the killing is very similar to one that had happened a few months earlier in the Bronx. Soon the police are hunting a serial killer and it’s not long before it becomes personal for Bennett. I enjoyed this. it's easy to read and a well-paced story. What's not to like?

Fortunately, it is not, but it is another college student who will never go home. The investigation takes many twists and turns without a clear suspect. Grandfather, Father Seamus is still head of the family and an active parish priest at the Holy Name, he has managed to get Bennett to coach the girl’s basket ball team. Some how Bennett leads and trains the team with purpose and direction and at the same time keep his sanity. But it is his ten children and Mary Catherine who keep him grounded throughout.
