Reviews: Not Quite Dead Yet (68)
“Holly does it again!”
(Hardback)
Once again, Holly Jackson has written another book that tore my heart to pieces, taped it up for a few chapters only to set fire to it later on. This is my favourite Holly Jackson book. I didn’t guess who did it until it was revealed- something that rarely happens for me. It is an excellent book, and I strongly recommend to all Holly Jackson fans.
“Holly Jackson, you have done it again!”
(Hardback)
Holly Jacksons first foray into adult crime might just be her best yet.
So I became slightly obsessed with Holly Jacksons books last year and read all of her work in the space of a month. But Not Quite Dead Yet might just br my absolute favourite!
It follows as Jet is attacked, resulting in a head injury that only gives her a week left to live. And what better way to spend her week than by solving her own murder! She never considered herself to have enemies, but as she begins investigating, everyone becomes a suspect. Can Jet work out who killed her before her time is up…
The premise of solving your own murder is absolutely genius. Technically as Jet is investigating it is only assault but as soon as her week is up, that assault becomes a murder charge.
It had me questioning absolutely everyone, the twists were incredible, and as always Holly Jacksons writing style is unputdownable. Loved it! And no, I did not successfully guess the murderer (and I really did try, my partner can attest to me telling him who I thought did it at every step of the investigation
“As always, Holly Jackson has killed it”
(Hardback)
(If you’ll pardon the pun)
Possibly my new favourite from Holly, although the cover doesn’t do it justice! She is an auto-buy author for me so that didn’t put me off, but let me set the scene for you if you’re not sold..
We’re following Jet; the daughter of a wealthy family in Woodstock, Vermont as she is violently attacked on Halloween night. She suffers an almost fatal head injury, in fact, doctors are sure she will be dead by the end of the week. Can Jet catch her killer before it’s too late?
Holly Jackson has perfected the loveable, badass main character who you will be rooting for all the way. A brilliant first adult novel, but will definitely recommend to fans of her YA work too.
(Thank you Penguin for the ARC of this book)
“great author”
(Paperback)
Couldn’t put it down lots twists Fantastic read
“You won't want to put it down!”
(Hardback)
Holly Jackson's debut adult thriller is not one to miss! I found myself picking it up with every spare second I had to read a couple of pages and I read the whole book within a couple of days.
The writing is brilliant, the plot is great and every revelation keeps you rewriting your theories of who it was!
I thought the concept was really original and the characters were well-crafted too, which is essential to this type of story.
Thank you to Penguin for sending me an early review copy to read.
