“The best of Holly Jackson. You need to read it.”

Despite my best abilities, I don’t think I can put into words how remarkable this book was. I had high expectations with Holly Jackson, as all her previous works have never disappointed, but this book was mesmerising from start to finish. As a huge fan of her work the bar was incredibly high, and Jackson proved that once again it can be raised higher. After still recovering from the GGGTM series from years ago, she produced a book that stolen my heart from the first few chapters. Jackson transitioned her work into the Adult Thriller genre perfectly; whilst maintaining her addictive writing style and witty humour. The setting and characters alone was addictive, when I wasn’t reading the book it was all I could think about. Holly Jackson has been queen of YA thriller for years but she has easily claimed the same position in adult with one book. This book is everything a Holly Jackson fan could want, with similar pacing to that of GGGTM and Five Survive, it was none stop twists and turns to the point where all I could do was sit in stunned silence. ‘Not Quite Dead Yet’ is going to sit with me for a long, long time. It will undoubtedly make any crime thriller fan happy and fill a hole in your heart you didn’t know you had. Perfect for fans of Tom Hindle, Richard Oseman and Janice Hallett, an utterly unstoppable adult debut.
“Heartbreaking.”

Read if you like emotional devastation. I was sobbing through this book. Brilliantly written with a great plot line with humourous moments. I was on edge at times whilst reading.

This is by far my favourite Holly Jackson book!! I had SUCH a fun time with this book and I did not want it to end. I felt like I knew Jet personally and I loved her character and personality so much. When there were chapters in the book that didn’t involve Jet I could definitely tell the vibe shifted because she brought so much life to the page. Not only did I love the characters, but the actual plot of the book was great. When I saw that it was following a girl who was solving her own murder, I genuinely had no idea which direction Holly was going to take it, but I was so happy with the outcome and the plot felt unique. Considering what Jet was going through, she was a genuinely hilarious character and with her sarcastic, dry humour, I was actually laughing aloud at some parts. Although being a thriller/crime, this book also had emotional and sad parts which I think is what made the characters and their lives feel so real. We are on this countdown with Jet leading to her death and you are rooting for her to achieve everything she wants to bedore she passes. She starts to live this fun and exciting life full of love and adventure and so it’s incredibly bittersweet. We all know Holly does thrillers so well, but I significantly enjoyed this one and would really recommend it when it’s published. P.S. Jet’s letter to Sophia made me laugh so much. IYKYK

There’s something about the way that Holly writes that has me completely hooked and unable to put the book down. The premise of this book was so interesting. She has seven days to solve her own murder. It sounds like an unbelievable scenario but Holly makes it work perfectly, her attention to detail is everything. One of my favourite things about Holly Jackson books is that I can always visualise everything that’s happening as if I’m watching a movie which just makes her books that much more enjoyable. This is definitely up there as one of my favourite Holly Jackson’s and I cannot wait for more!!
“Awesome!”

This is classic Holly Jackson. The characters are based around a local, small community and the story is fast paced and gripping. The story is about a young woman, whom, after being attacked, has a week to live and wants to find out who her murderer is before she dies. I couldn’t put it down. It is emotionally raw and you’re engaged from the first page, changing your mind on ‘whodunnit’ throughout. All the characters are brought to life, and you are kept guessing until the end.
