Reviews: Nineteen Eighty-Four (45)
“Spectacularly poignant”
(Paperback)
The book of enlightenment.
“I love this book!”
(Paperback)
It arrived very quickly and I just got straight into the book. A very good book to get easily stuck into.
“A Chilling Glimpse into Totalitarianism”
(Paperback)
George Orwell’s 1984 is a haunting portrayal of a dystopian future ruled by surveillance, propaganda, and absolute control. Through Winston Smith’s quiet rebellion, Orwell explores the dangers of authoritarianism and the loss of individuality. A gripping, thought-provoking classic that remains powerfully relevant today.
“Classic for a reason”
(Paperback)
Orwell describes a dystopian future where everyone lives under totalitarian regimes. The thought that went into every detail of those fictional regimes is clear to see - I think the book gives the reader a real sense of what it would be like to live under such an all-seeing, oppressive government. Fantastic book!
“Brilliant piece of literature”
(Paperback)
Despite being written decades ago, the storyline of 1984 is still relevant to the present. The inner voice of Winston Smith is such a revelation even in modern times.
What I appreciated in this book is its unexpected ending. The book is about totalianism, but Winston's relationship with Julia was a pleasant surprise. While the second part of the book was the plot twist, the resolution and ending of the book held more depth to me.
