The book of enlightenment.

It arrived very quickly and I just got straight into the book. A very good book to get easily stuck into.

Orwell describes a dystopian future where everyone lives under totalitarian regimes. The thought that went into every detail of those fictional regimes is clear to see - I think the book gives the reader a real sense of what it would be like to live under such an all-seeing, oppressive government. Fantastic book!

Despite being written decades ago, the storyline of 1984 is still relevant to the present. The inner voice of Winston Smith is such a revelation even in modern times. What I appreciated in this book is its unexpected ending. The book is about totalianism, but Winston's relationship with Julia was a pleasant surprise. While the second part of the book was the plot twist, the resolution and ending of the book held more depth to me.
