Ten years after leaving the US, Harry Booth returns and, intending to stay for a couple of years, takes the post of a school teacher in Virginia. When LaPorte once again finds him Harry decides it's time to fight back and plans the most complicated heist of his life. He has to succeed to free himself from the constant danger from LaPorte. For me, Nightwork by Nora Roberts was compulsive reading.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Nightwork by Nora Roberts. I used to read her books years ago but haven't for a long time so when I saw this one pop up I decided to give it a shot and I am so glad I did. The story has stayed with me long after I've finished the book (late review sorry!) This is a stand alone novel, about Harry Booth, who we meet as a young boy struggling with his mothers illness and trying to put food on the table. He turns to "Nightwork" (theft) as he is so desperate, but he comes to enjoy his Nightwork and doesn't stop when he gets older. His nightwork is not without dangers though, namely a paymaster who becomes a danger to him, and his loved ones, throughout his life. Harry is a very intelligent man, and I enjoyed his story and relationships throughout the book. He's definitely a likeable character despite being a thief! I loved the way the story came together and this was one of those books that I really couldn't put down. The writing was excellent with plenty of detail, and brilliant character relationships. My only tiny bug bear was the amount of times food, and cooking food was mentioned, it did seem rather a lot! But it still gets 5 stars from me. A brilliant book, and I wish I could be at the beginning again without knowing the story! Loved this book! Absolutely gripping. I’ve been reading NR books for a long time and I feel like Nightwork harkens back to vintage Nora — but even better. I hated when had to put the book down.

I thoroughly enjoyed this Women's Fiction novel. The story is about Harry, a little boy who has a hard childhood as his mother was very sick, and he had to help her to pay the bills and buy food for them. To do this, he became a thief. After a big loss, he moved away and travelled around, continuing with his nightwork (thieving). Later, he also held a normal job too, and had a love life. We are shown him as a young boy, growing up into a man, and it was really interesting to read about his life. I liked him, even though I didn't always agree with the things he done. The writing in the book is superb. Nora always writes wonderfully, and her stories and characters are always engaging and adventurous. I loved this book and recommend it highly!

Carter LaPorte, that client from New Orleans is on his doorstep, insisting he take a statue from a museum in Baltimore.
