Wow I loved this book. You will too, mainly as you are taken on an amazing journey as Georgina Codd describes every detail of her amazing journey to find a father figure. She writes in such a way as to make us readers feel like we are being told an amazing story by an old friend. It’s a true story that’s so incredible that it strikes up the “truth is stranger than fiction” idea in my mind. Sometimes it’s sad, sometimes hilarious and always beautifully poignant and captivating. I loved how the notion of fatherhood is explored in different cultures and species throughout the authors journey to find a father figure. It’s basically a fun text book for anyone interested in parenthood or parenting, family therapy, Peer Assisted Open Dialogue, and everybody who loves good books that you can’t put down.

I met Georgie at the Birmingham Christmas evening and spoke to her about the book and how the title resonated with personal experience. Now having finished it I can’t begin to express how beautiful it was. I laughed a lot and cried a lot. I felt a lot of rage about statistics to do with men and fatherhood and how unsupported and understood they are. And then I cried a bit more. If this subject interests you, you are looking for something very unique, or you feel you can relate you really must read it.
