Reviews: Murder on Merseyside (1)
“Brilliant”

I have read so many books about the Wallace Murder of 1931 and I have read the same theories time after time about this seemingly unsolvable crime, but I truly believe that Tom Slemen has at last solved one of the biggest whodunnits in history. Tom Slemen also tackles the Cranborne Road murder of 1951 and comes up with a chilling slant that escaped me, and I have been studying that murder for about ten years. Other baffling murders covered by this fascinating book are the Knotty Ash murder of 1961, when a housewife was killed in her home during one of the worst fogs to ever fall on Merseyside. This case too is unsolved, but once again, Tom Slemen throws new light on it. Many of the other stories are set in the Victorian and Edwardian eras, but they are just as gripping, because they happened locally and Tom Slemen has a unique way of drawing the reader in with the same writing talent he displays in his Haunted Liverpool books.
