Reviews: Mockingjay (67)
“I love Collins yet want to kill her...”
(Paperback)
This book just blew away all of my expectations. I knew that the last book in the Hunger Games trilogy would be absolutely epic - but this I did not expect. Honestly? It's tragic. It's such a sad, grief ridden end to the trilogy I have come to love. And yet, Collins has done herself and this series justice. Right up until the last page I had no idea what was going to happen. Each page brought a new twist. One page, everything would seem to be going well and then the next something major happens or someone else dies horrifically. I read this book literally in a matter of hours because I could not put it down. Here's a message to all you hunger game's fans - you will LOVE this book, and yet you will never fully quench your thirst for the hunger games. There are so many questions that will never be answered. Well done Suzanne Collins, because you have given us fan's what we wanted and yet you have kept so much from us - you yourself are like the true game maker in the trilogy, as in the end, even the most powerful characters in this book are outsmarted just like the reader. Almost like the reader themselves were a piece in the hunger games..
Goodbye, the hunger games! :)
“Mockingjay”
(Paperback)
Once again another great read.
Katniss is now the Mockingjay and is a vital part in the revolution. In the last Hunger Games Katniss was lucky. Peeta on the other hand was taken by the Capitol.
Now in District 13, Katniss is unable to reach Peeta and is under medication as she's not coping.
She sees Peeta on the TV and is overwhelmed and strokes the screen and is happy he isn't dead.
When they eventually get Peeta from the Capitol he's changed dramatically and tries to kill Katniss. This upsets her even more as she's missed him.
Slowly he comes back to her especially when they're fighting in the Capitol. At the end of the book Katniss goes back to District 12 where Peeta joins her and they get together again and they both help each other through the nightmares but Katniss finally admits she loves Peeta.
“Outstanding”
(Paperback)
No matter how i write this it won't justify how simply outstanding this book is.
The character development was amazing and the twists in the plot were so breathtakingly surprising i was left stunned on several occasions.
Throughout this installment i found myself haunted and horrified by the capabilities of the human race and yet was touched by the tenderness and love we can also feel.
Something to bear in mind is that this is no easy read and by the end i felt like my heart had been twisted several times and i cried buckets, especially in the last few chapters.
Truly, honestly a genius work of fiction that will easily be remembered as a modern classic and as a meaningful and powerful story. I know i will never forget this book or the affect it has had on me.
