Reviews: Misery (17)
“Classic King doing what he does best.”
(Paperback)
A writer has an accident and is rescued by his biggest fan who demands he write a story for her. This is one of King's best novels, in which he creates one of his scariest villains.
Iconic, tense and horrifying, this is a must-read!
“Great!”
(Paperback)
Perhaps King's best work!
“5 Star Read”
(Paperback)
Beautiful Writing ✍️ Divine story telling, Loved this ❤️ Love Stephen King
“On edge the entire time”
(Paperback)
I felt many emotions reading this book because of how on edge I felt the majority of the time reading it. The detail Stephen King goes into on Paul Sheldon’s experience throughout the story had me on edge and even grossed out at some points. There were moments where I had to stop reading for a second to prepare myself for what was about to happen next because of the graphic detail Stephen King goes into. Misery is a gripping read and has definitely become one of my favourite Stephen King novels due to all the uneasy feelings I felt throughout reading, I would definitely recommend Misery to any reader.
“Utterly terrifying. Redefines the word "psychotic".”
(Paperback)
This was the scariest book I think I have ever read - I was on the edge of my seat the entire read. Flawlessly written, and in my opinion, the best book of King's to get started with. This novel will shock you, disturb you and most of all leave you shivering with fright and adrenaline. The ending was so intense and it's not an exaggeration to say that I was fearing for my life while reading it - it was absolutely incredible. Everything about the book scared me, from the way the characters interacted to the seemingly harmless colloquial and odd phrases repeatedly used throughout. A pure, psychological horror story that will leave you tingling and will make you wake up in a sweat.
Just when you think you're safe, the horror gets amped up to the next level. "Misery" is said to be one of King's thrillers - and I 100% agree, the story was so tense I could not put it down - but I do think that it was even more horrifying than a lot of the books in his horror collection. I cannot stress how incredible this book really was. The blurb and tagline do not do it justice, please believe me. You will not be able to sleep peacefully if you read this before bed. One of my favourite Stephen King books of all time.
