Reviews: Midwinter Break (14)
“The perfect subtle, slow-paced read for the post-Christmas lag”
(Paperback)
A tremendous book. Incredibly gentle but all the more powerful for the softness with which it addresses a deteriorating relationship. Husband is an alcoholic. Wife is a woman of faith considering living a life of solitude in order to pay back an old debt to God. Essentially takes a marriage and puts it under the microscope and as a reader, the fact that you can see (and identify with) so much makes it painful to keep looking. But it'd be a mistake to put it down.
“Disappointed”

I bought this on recommendations and reading the reviews but I’m sorry - the content of the synopsis is very good but for me, the last 8 pages of writing were the only really interesting bit. I very nearly didn’t finish and as someone on here has already said, by far the poorest book I’ve read in a very long while. Apologies to the author but no point in leaving a review if not completely honest.
