Wow, it is quite difficult to express how much, and in what ways I enjoyed Midnight Cactus. Bella Pollen does a fantastic job of writing a novel which although is consciously from a woman's viewpoint, is decidedly no "knee deep in treacle" romance novel. It was just so astute and ultimately believable, without feeling the need to render an excess of emotion or grisly description to be a provoking and enlightening tale. I wont spoil it, but it really is one of those 'unputdownables'...
