Her app, Make Up, has been called the “Google Translate for failing relationships.” High efficiency break-ups, flashy start-ups, penthouses, fast cars…these are the things Hudson Craft believes in. His app, Break Up, is known as the “Uber for break-ups.” It’s wildly successful—and anathema to Annika’s life philosophy. Annika will do anything to save her company, well almost anything. Developing Make Up is her passion and she is unwilling to give it up to become the doctor that her father wants her to be. At first I wasn’t sure what I thought about this book, I struggled to get into it but after picking it back up I found that it was a light hearted book to read. With a sprinkling of pranks, this is an enjoyable book to read and easy to get distracted by. Rating 4/5

Make Up Break Up was a super fun rom com which despite starting slow I really loved and didn’t want to put down by the time I got to the end. When I first started the book I honestly wasn’t sure what I thought of the plot and characters. It felt very much like a knock-off of The Hating Game which I was not a fan of which is probably why I felt initially cautious but I am glad to say the similarities between the two ended fairly quickly. Again I wasn’t sure about the characters during the beginning of the story also. The first two chapters were very heavy on the foreshadowing and ‘Hudson Craft’ kept being brought up again and again (and why did she keep using his full name?!) Being brutally honest I did not like Annika at first, she was a very immature protagonist and constantly had childish retorts for Hudson, but he too did not impress me at first particularly when he seemed to continue to sabotage Annika and her ambitions. BUT when I say it felt like a 360 degree change after the third half I am not exaggerating (well maybe a little…) but suddenly neither Hudson or Annika felt as annoying or immature and the plot really began to come into itself. This is when I become addicted to the plot and characters and actually it felt like a really comforting rom com that I really enjoyed. My only qualm was the ending scene felt like it could have been lengthened but that also might be because I didn’t want the story to end. Overall I would highly recommend this one and I would say stick with the sticky patches early on as the pay off is by far worth it for the ending. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for Lily Menon’s future adult work.

This entertaining enemies to lovers YA Romance follows Annika Dev, CEO of Dating App, Make Up also known as “Google Translate for failing relationships.” The only problem is the startup capital is almost gone, her prototype isn’t finished and her enemy/rival CEO of successful “Uber for breakups” app, Break Up, Hudson Craft is her new Office Neighbor. To make matters worse,Annika hooked up with him a year ago and is convinced he stole her ideas. Now they’re both competing for prestigious EPIC investment pitch contest-Annika can’t loose or she’ll go bankrupt. As pranks and petty one-upmanship ensues, can Annika put their differences aside, can Hudson learn what true love’s really about? This was a rather enjoyable read, I love the enemies to lovers trope and this is no exception. The chemistry between Annika and Hudson is palpable and I really enjoyed the petty childishness of their attempts at sabotage/flirting.The one downside is Annika can be a little impulsive and quick to judge but that wasn’t really a huge problem for me. Overall,this is a fabulously lighthearted take on the rivalry as courtship / enemies to lovers trope that I think, would very much appeal to Contemporary Romance, Romantic Comedy and Enemies to lovers fans. I’d also like to thank Hodder Paperbacks and Net Galley for the ARC.

Enemies to lovers trope is always entertaining so I had high hopes for this one.I liked the writing style.I would have liked a bit more insight into what Hudson was thinking/feeling and think alternating pov’s might have been beneficial. I liked Annika and her dedication to her goals and succeeding in a profession that is generally male dominated. The interactions between characters was also good but I did find it a little frustrating that Annika and Hudson didn’t really c0mmunicate properly about what had happened between them until the end especially given the nature/basis of her app. Overall though an entertaining read worth a look.
