I don’t often write reviews but must recommend this excellent, motivation and hopeful book, which’s made me like we must all do something postive this year and onwards to make a difference. It’s a powerful read, and I will be reading it again!

I read this book in one day! It made me feel hopeful and motivated to do something different and I’d say it’s my favourite activist book so far. Easy to read and it felt like the writer was carefully walking you through all the different options you have to make a change. The book includes different activist interviews like Guilty feminist’s Deborah Frances White and so many others. Essential reading for 2021!

I've been following Amika since 2018, so when I heard about her book I couldn't wait to see what she had to say about her work. Finished it in what felt like no time at all - her journey with activism was articulated so clearly, and honestly reading her writing felt like talking to a best friend! Felt really inspired by her passion, and she also collates such an interesting collection of voices for change from Gina Martin and Tiara Sahar Ataii, to Tasha Bishop and Adwoa Aboah, all of whom have such unique insights on how they've 'made it happen'. She also offers some really useful reflections on social media and how it can both a powerful force for change, and something to treat with care - particularly important to remember during quarantine where we're living more digitally than ever. It's so easy to feel powerless right now, but 'Make It Happen' is such an antidote to that defeatist mindset. Overall I can genuinely say I loved this book, and Amika wherever you are, keep being such a legend!!
