This tender yet often funny novel follows a group of women fighting over the possessions of recently deceased Bill Crosby. As with many of Morrisons novels, Love explores the cruelties often faced by women,(particularly in the African American community). She explores throughout the novel the negative side of the emotion and how it can make and break a person. Her writing style is poetically complicated and her talent to make you feel immersed in the story creates a beautiful reading experience.
