Reviews: Lost Light (2)
“A fantastic read”
(Paperback)
Lost Light is the nineth book in the addictive Harry Bosch series by Michael Connelly. This is a gripping series with a wonderful pace with plenty of bodies turning up across the pages. This book will also deliver an unexpected surprise to Bosch which shocks him into silence.
Harry Bosch has finally pulled the pin and retired from the LAPD after more years than he would care to remember. He took with him a few of the cases that he had not managed to solve in his career. Bosch has taken the file of a crime that had only happened four years prior to his retirement but had left a deep mark on his soul. He is reinvestigating the murder of Angella Benton, a lowly production assistant in Hollywood, a murder which made no sense whatsoever. When Kiz Rider his old partner gets in touch to warn him off the investigation, this piques his interest even more. In true Bosch style there is no way he is going to back off and leave this alone.
The more Bosch investigates the more he ruffles feathers some of whom would prefer not to be reminded of their failures. Bosch is able to link the murder of Angella Benton to a $2million heist from a film set not long after the murder. Bosch had been on the set that day investigating the murder when he managed to shoot one of the robbers. As well as the robbery they had shot one of the Bank’s security team and another bank employee got shot in the ass. As Bosch starts pulling strings the FBI counterterrorism squad swoop in to close him down and try and shut him up, even with an overnight stay in lockup. They are trying to warn off the wrong person.
This is a classic Bosch thriller, gripping from beginning to the end with plenty of twists and turns. Bosch is a character that gets under your skin, and you want him to succeed whatever the cost. Even when Bosch has cleared the crime, he still gets a surprise which makes for a great ending.
“Harry Bosch Series”
(Paperback)
This was a great read as with all the other Harry Bosch books.
In this, Harry has retired from the LAPD but conducts an investigation into a cold case that bothers him.
This is the fifth Bosch novel I've read and its a compelling read, I'm looking forward to reading the other books in this terrific series.
Michael Connelly is one of the best crime writers today.
