Reviews: Linear Algebra (6)
“Fantastic Book”
(Paperback)
by Tom Watson
You will not find a better book on linear algebra than this. It really is a step by step explanation of the concepts of linear algebra. There is mathematical proof which is so well explained and motivating. I like the idea of the author explaining why we are doing this. There are complete solutions to all the exercises on the book's website so if you are stuck on a question you can look up the solution. A good resource for distance learning as I am doing mathematics with the open university.
“Amazing book!!”

i have the book and it's beautiful in many ways. It teaches you everything step by step so there is no need for extra research to find any methods of working out the book has everything there for you. I would 100% recommend this book, you will not regret getting it!
“Best maths book I've ever bought!!”
(Paperback)
by Brendon Quartey
This book is one of a kind. Really helped me to understand what I was studying in depth with a number of amazing step by step examples before each exercise. Also gives you several practise questions and exam questions which help prepare you appropriately for the exam. As long as you complete the exercises after being taught each topic or even just after reading through each topic in the book, passing the exam is a sure thing. The layout of the book allows beginners to work through the book without much difficulty. There are difficult topics, however if you just work through the worked examples, you are sure to get it. This book dates back through the history of maths so you know where something came from and why which helps you to be more interested in the topic you're studying!!
“Ticks every box”
(Paperback)
by Jeevan Matharu
Cannot fault this book, it was my 'go to' throughout the whole module. Each chapter is simplified and broken down so well, would highly recommend for anybody struggling, or even just to solidify confidence in chapters already learnt. There are exercises after every chapter which have simple answers at the back but worked through answers online; repetition of questions is crucial in understanding any math module and this textbook recognises that. It is very hard to find a suitable textbook that suits all style of learners, but this book ticks every box. I would not hesitate to recommend this book to anyone, or any book of this author.
“Fantastic and sympathetic introduction to linear algebra for mathematicians and application oriented users ”
(Paperback)
by Shahzeb Mohammed
Compared to classical first course linear algebra literature, Dr Singh's text " Linear Algebra step by step" is in a league of its own. I obtained a copy from Waterstones Gower St branch last year. Dr Singh's presentation of basic abstract linear algebra is very thorough, It does not require you to have a transition level proof course. By just reading the text, he simply develops the theory from examples to abstract concept. By the time user completes the chapter, they are capable of doing the linear algebra proofs and use it in an applied manner in subjects like economics, engineering, physics and computer science. Color coding and question and answer style of developing the theory is unique. It simulates as if a lecturer is in front of you and trouble shooting complexities. Just compare this book with any other and judge yourself!. Some supplementary material like additional optional topics and answers can be found on publisher's website. Anyone not comfortable with linear algebra or mathematics in general, do yourself a favor, get this book. I hope Dr Singh can use his unique style to write few more basic texts on real analysis, abstract algebra and topology
