I was late to the party in reading this, I was intending to wait until the fourth book was out and then binge read all the books but I picked up the Grim/Oro novellas at the weekend as my local Waterstones already had it on the shelves and I decided I couldn’t wait. Every 100 years the Island of Lightlark is visible for only 100 days so that the rulers of all the realms can take part in the Centennial, to solve the curses that have been placed on the realms for a chance to win unlimited power. A mysterious prophecy is the only hint that they have to work with, our heroine Isla Crown must do whatever she can to win as her people are dying. Even if she must lie, steal and betray. I really enjoyed this, I really liked Isla she was very relatable and down to earth as she just wanted to be free. The only thing I didn’t really get was Oro as a love interest, I thought that seemed to come out of nowhere near the end. I did like Oro as a character but as a love interest nope. The curses were an interesting touch, using the different peoples strengths against them as a curse. I was quite intrigued by all the different realms and their various powers, I didn’t really have a favourite but I’m probably leaning more towards the Wildings. I loved Grim, he was a brilliant love interest, tall, dark and brooding, what’s not to love? He really badly betrayed Isla though, I can’t wait to read on and see how they get past this. The chemistry was there between Isla and Grim from the very start, I loved the banter between them. The twists kept coming, when I thought I had a grip on what was happening, I was then surprised a couple of chapters later. Overall really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this.

I loved this book so much!!! I don’t know why it’s getting the amount of hate it’s getting and it certainly doesn’t even deserve it. This book has definitely got me back into reading and loving it again too. This book deserves so much well deserved hype!! I’m proud of Alex and can not wait for the next book in the series!!!

I can't believe I hadn't read this sooner! Totally fast paced and I couldn't wait to turn the page. Lightlark follows the Wildling ruler Isla as she must lie cheat and betray to win the ultimate prize of power, freeing the six realms of their curses - but things are never as simple as they seem. I absolutely loved the world of Lightlark, the powers of the different realms and their rulers was so interesting to me. I'm so obsessed with so many of the characters, I can't wait to learn more about them!!
